Lane Kiffin has been busy since taking over as the new head coach of the LSU Tigers, but his former team, the Ole Miss Rebels, are currently in the middle of the College Football Playoff.

To open up the playoff, Ole Miss came through with a dominant 41-10 victory over Jon Sumrall and the Tulane Green Wave in the Rebels’ first game without Kiffin leading the charge. Despite such a good head coach leaving the program, Ole Miss seemed to be perfectly fine.

LSU is currently in the middle of playing against Houston in the Kinder’s Texas Bowl. During the broadcast, Kiffin was interviewed and asked a plethora of questions.

While many questions had to do with his current team, there were some about the Rebels as well.

One question that Kiffin was asked had to do with his thoughts on Ole Miss defeating Tulane in the playoff. He had good things to say about his former team.

“It was awesome, that was a great day, it really was. I’m not just saying that,” Kiffin said. “The biggest game in the State of Mississippi.”

Kiffin has received a lot of criticism for leaving the way he did. He put the Rebels and his former players in a very tough position right before making a run at a national championship. Unfortunately, that is the business side of college football.

Truthfully, Kiffin could not have waited longer to commit to coaching LSU. He made a decision that he felt was best for him and his family moving forward. However, with those decisions comes criticism.

Ole Miss is now preparing to face off against the Georgia Bulldogs in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day at 8:00 p.m. ET.

During his tenure as the head coach of the Rebels, Kiffin led the program to a 55-19 record. He was able to build Ole Mis back to being a serious contender. While things didn’t end well, he put in a lot of time and effort into the job.

Now, he’ll move forward with the Tigers as their new head coach. He’s facing a tough battle turning LSU around into a contender for next season, but the program is in good hands with Kiffin leading the way.
