The reality TV show Married at First Sight U.K. has been pulled from screens after two women who participated in the program alleged they were raped by their on-screen husbands.

A third woman also alleged she was subjected to a non-consensual sex act. The show was broadcast by the United Kingdom’s Channel 4. The allegations were reported on May 18 by the BBC, the U.K.’s public broadcaster.

Married at First Sight, commonly known as MAFS, is a reality dating show in which strangers are matched by relationship experts and meet for the first time at their “wedding ceremony”. The couples then live together and test their relationship over several weeks before deciding whether to stay together or separate. The marriages are not legally binding.

On Monday afternoon, Channel 4 said it had pulled all episodes from both streaming and broadcast platforms, as well as removing MAFS U.K. social media channels.

“In April, Channel 4 was presented with serious allegations of wrongdoing against a small number of past contributors, allegations that we understand those contributors have denied,” Channel 4 said.

“The channel is mindful of the privacy and continuing duty of care towards all contributors, and cannot comment on or disclose details of those allegations.”
