Needless to say, fans are ecstatic for the release of the next two films in the franchise: ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’
Unfortunately, it looks like they’ll have to wait a bit longer.
According to a report from J. Kim Murphy of Variety, both movies have been delayed seven months from their original release dates.
This means that ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ will release on Dec. 18, 2026, instead of May 1, 2026, and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ will release on Dec. 17, 2027, instead of May 17, 2027.
The Avengers will need a few more months to assemble. Disney has delayed the release of Marvel Studios’ upcoming team-up features “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.”

This change also saw Marvel Studios shift a number of other unannounced Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) off of its calendar, meaning 2026 will only have ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ on it schedule, which is set to release on July 31, 2026.
More Entertainment:
Additionally, this means that after ‘The Fantastic 4: First Steps’ releases on July 25, 2025, there won’t be another MCU film in theaters until Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ next year.
This will be the longest delay between MCU movies since the COVID era when there wasn’t a film released between ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ in 2019 and ‘Black Widow’ in 2021.
More Entertainment:
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to be a sort of reset for the MCU, with multiple popular heroes returning.
The most surprising casting choice is Robert Downey Jr., who will not be reprising his iconic role as Tony Stark/Iron man. Instead, he will be playing the villainous Victor Von Doom, more well-known as Doctor Doom.
Additionally, an abundance of mutants will be joining from the original X-Men films by Sony. This includes Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, and even Channing Tatum as Gambit.
