The Obamas shared a rare family photo of the whole crew together for Thanksgiving, after months of the former first couple being on opposite sides of the country and batting down divorce rumors.
Barack and Michelle Obama smiled cheerily with their arms around one another and their daughters, Sasha and Malia — all lined up side by side in a joint Instagram post on Thursday, celebrating the holiday.
“During this season of giving, let’s do what we can to give back to the communities that have given us so much. From our family to yours, have a wonderful Thanksgiving!” former President Barack Obama wrote in the caption of the pic also posted by his wife.
Earlier this year, the former first couple sparked separation rumors when Michelle, who now hosts a podcast, didn’t join her husband at former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral. She also didn’t attend President Trump’s inauguration, leaving Barack solo and causing onlookers to wonder if there was trouble in paradise.
Clips of the couple addressing speculation went viral in July when Barack joined Michelle as a guest on her podcast, IMO.
When the former president entered the studio, he kissed his wife on the cheek, prompting Craig Robinson, Michelle’s brother and co-host, to crack a couple jokes.
“Wait, you guys like each other?” Robinson said when Barack walked in.
“That’s the rumour mill,” Michelle brushed it off.
“She took me back. It was touch-and-go for a while,” Barack joked.
After taking their seats, Michelle addressed the rumors head-on and said there was never a moment she thought about divorcing her husband.
“There hasn’t been one moment in our marriage where I have thought about quitting on my man,” she said.
In October, the Obamas notched 33 years of marriage, and Barack celebrated by posting a selfie with Michelle.
“The best decision I ever made was marrying you,” he captioned the picture.
The couple’s joint Thanksgiving post also contributed to speculation that Michelle is on the weight-loss drug Ozempic, which began when the former first lady published photos taken by renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz last week.
Michelle is pictured wearing a tight-fitting t-shirt, riding slightly above her jeans. Behind-the-scenes footage prompted social media users to wonder if she had recently lost a considerable amount of weight.
