Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors started off their first-round playoff series against the Houston Rockets with a big win on the road. On Sunday night, the Warriors were able to pull off a big 95-85 win, showing off elite defense along the way against the young and athletic Rockets.
Since the trade went down before the deadline to acquire Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat, Golden State has been playing at a very high level. Still led by Stephen Curry, the Warriors could be a sleeper NBA Finals contender.
Along with the win giving Golden State a 1-0 series lead against Houston, Kerr actually reached a historical milestone as well.
With the win, Kerr reached 100 career playoff wins and moved into sixth place in the all-time playoff coaching wins category. He passed legendary Boston Celtics’ head coach Red Auerbach on the list.

Due to his impressive milestone, the NBA reacted to the news and sent a message to Kerr on social media.
“Congrats to Steve Kerr of the Warriors, for reaching 100 career playoff wins and moving into 6th on the all-time playoff COACHING WINS list!” their post read.
Ever since becoming the Warriors’ head coach, Kerr has been among the best head coaches in the NBA. He has received some shade for that, as many believe Mark Jackson created the dynasty that Golden State turned into.
Despite those comments, Kerr has been extremely successful, regardless of anything else.

Kerr became the head coach for the Warriors all the way back in the 2014-15 NBA season. He has led the team to a 567-308 overall record, including four NBA championships. His regular season record is good enough for a 64.8 percent win rate.
Few head coaches have had the kind of success that Kerr has found in Golden State. He has been an excellent fit with Stephen Curry, Draymond, Green, Klay Thompson, and the rest of the stars who have played for the Warriors under his watch.
No matter what anyone has to say about Kerr, he is among the NBA’s elite head coaches. He also has the Warriors back in the playoffs once again and is still pursuing hard after his fifth championship ring.
This milestone is just another sign of how great of a career the Golden State head coach has had.
