The Kansas City Chiefs had already been eliminated from playoff contention, but Thursday night’s home game at Arrowhead Stadium was still a special one for several reasons as they faced the Denver Broncos.

For one, it served as the nightcap of a three-game slate on Christmas Day. Additionally, it may have marked veteran tight end Travis Kelce’s final home game as a member of the Chiefs — something that was evident in the attention he received both while running onto the field before kickoff and as he walked off following the team’s 20–13 loss.

After the game, Kelce was approached by several Broncos players at midfield, including star quarterback Bo Nix, a moment that quickly prompted a reaction across the NFL shortly after the final whistle.

“Bo Nix and Travis Kelce,” the NFL posted with a heart emoji, as Kelce could be heard telling Nix to “go get you one,” with Denver now one win away from clinching the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC.

Fans reacted to the interaction:

“Old school meets new wave — respect all around,” a fan said.

Someone else added, “Kelce always been a class act.”

Another person wrote, “‘go get you one’ is tough. He wants the broncos to win the chip.”

“Love to see it,” one more fan commented.

Kelce has remained a productive tight end this season despite a dip in his numbers over the past few years. He hauled in five receptions for 36 yards on Thursday night, and with one game remaining, he has totaled 72 receptions for 839 yards and five touchdowns.

Still, at age 36 and set to become an unrestricted free agent, this feels like a very plausible moment for him to hang up his cleats. A three-time Super Bowl champion with countless regular-season and postseason accolades, Kelce will go down as one of the greatest tight ends of all time and is a near lock for the Pro Football Hall of Fame once he becomes eligible.
