The NFL has owned Thanksgiving forever, but now they’re coming after the NBA and its stranglehold on Christmas.
After testing out a game or two these past few years, the NFL is fully leaning into the holiday cheer this year, as it’s throwing out all the stops on both Thanksgiving and Christmas with two of the best tripleheaders in history.
While both also have a marquee day on the eve of their holidays (yes, the NFL is trying to make Thanksgiving Eve a thing), I’ll compare only the games in their respective tripleheaders.
So let’s break it down to see which slate is king, shall we?

Morning: Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions (Thanksgiving) vs. Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears (Christmas)
If you’re Ben Johnson and the Bears, I hope you enjoy celebrating the holidays with your teammates, because you’re kicking off both tripleheaders.
While the Packers vs. Bears might be the more classic matchup, it’s the Lions on Thanksgiving. You have to give the tiniest of edges to the Lions tilt.
Winner: Thanksgiving
Again, both of these games would be headliners on most nights, but they’re both the marquee middle game of the holiday tripleheaders.
While the Eagles and Cowboys have the legacy, the Bills and Broncos had one of the best postseason games in recent memory last year and are arguably the two favorites in the AFC this upcoming season.
Winner: Christmas
Nightcap: Kansas City Chiefs at Buffalo Bills (Thanksgiving) vs. Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks (Christmas)
Wow, if you were to pick the two rivalries that produced the most thrilling games in their respective conferences over the past half-decade, for the AFC it’d be Chiefs vs. Bills, and for the NFC it’d be Rams vs. Seahawks.
Chiefs vs. Bills with Patrick Mahomes against Josh Allen has never been dull. On the opposite end, the Rams and Seahawks played three games last year that might have all ranked among the top 10 games of the 2025-26 season.
It’s the mystique of Mahomes vs. Allen and the hottest feud in the league currently, with the Seahawks going at the Rams.
This might be a huge upset, but I’m going with the defending Super Bowl champions against the defending MVP and the team they beat in the NFC Championship, the Los Angeles Rams.
If Mahomes is fully healthy and is back to his normal self by Thanksgiving, I might change my mind, but right now, the stronger rivalry is Seahawks vs. Rams on Christmas night.
Winner: Christmas
