That’s a wrap on Practical Magic 2!

The movie’s star, Nicole Kidman, shared a celebratory Instagram post on Saturday, September 13, announcing that filming on the long-awaited follow-up to the 1998 movie Practical Magic has concluded.

“That’s a wrap on #PracticalMagic2!” Kidman, 58, captioned the post. “Thank you to the cast & crew for all your magic ✨.”

Kidman also shared a video of herself and costar Sandra Bullock walking in a field as sunshine streams around them. Bullock, 61, can be heard commenting, “Profile shot? Profile shot!” as Kidman laughs in the footage.

Warner Bros. announced that the sequel was in production in 2024. Kidman confirmed her participation in the film in a June 2024 interview with People.

“Yes I will be in it. And Sandy will be in it. And that’s that,” she told the outlet at the time. “There’s a lot more to tell which is why we go, ‘OK, this is kind of interesting now to be able to do this.’”

Warner Bros. later confirmed the movie will be released in theaters on September 18, 2026.

The 1998 original starred Kidman and Bullock as sisters who are trained in witchcraft by their aunts after their parents die from the result of a seemingly unbreakable family curse.

Both actresses have had nothing but praise for the original movie. While reuniting at the 2018 Academy Award red carpet, Kidman said, “I love that movie. I showed that movie to my kids. It’s a little above their [level of understanding] … But we’re really good sisters.”

Bullock also took the chance to clarify some of the lore surrounding the famous midnight margaritas scene.

“We weren’t drunk when we shot these parts or when we did our close-ups,” she said. “But we had to reshoot a scene where it was far away and we were on our backs and Nicole just put the bottle on the table and said, ‘You know what? There’s no reason we shouldn’t be drunk here.’ And I said, ‘You know what? That’s true.’”

Kidman shared a sneak peek at the upcoming sequel in July 2025, much to fans’ delight. “The witches are back ✨ Owens sisters’ first day on set!” she captioned a reel shared via Instagram.

The new movie was shot at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in England as well as in London. Bullock was spotted in the city in August 2025.

“It was a pinch me moment to see THE Sandra Bullock, and of course Dianne Weist, outside my door on a Monday morning,” eyewitness Scott Da Silva-Wells told Hello! Magazine that month. “It was amazing to see her in action, and she even greeted some fans who were standing by her trailer with a big smile and a wave.”
