Entering the 2025 NFL season as the starting quarterback of the New York Giants, Russell Wilson will be viewed as the go-to vocal leader for the team.

However, the Giants’ decision to bring in multiple seasoned veterans to join the QB room gives the team a unique dynamic. It’s one that Giants running back Tyrone Tracy has quickly grown to appreciate.

Jameis Winston, a well-known and outspoken player in the NFL, is playing his part as a vocal leader for New York as well, according to the veteran rusher.

“Jameis and Russ, they both have a really good dynamic to where they both respect each other,” Tracy said on ‘Good Morning Football‘. “They both allow each other to lead in their own way … If Jameis wants to say something, Russ is not gonna come and say this is how it is. He’ll let Jameis talk and lead his own way.”

Winston might be set to play backup in New York, but he has the credibility of being a successful quarterback in the league. When he entered the NFL Draft in 2015, Winston was the No. 1 overall pick out of Florida State. He’s played in over 100 games and started in nearly 90 of them. Winson is a one-time Pro Bowler and a 2019 passing yards leader.

Even if Winston doesn’t get the chance to throw his helmet on and play for the Giants in 2025, Tracy and the rest of the team will reap the benefits of having him around.

“You need more than one leader,” the running back added. “You need more than one person speaking up.”

The Giants’ quarterback position will be under a microscope all season long, as the state of the position is tricky. Wilson is beyond his prime, but he looks like he still has enough gas left in the tank to lead the Giants as they look to transition from being one of the NFC’s worst teams to potentially contending for a playoff spot. Therefore, Wilson will begin the year as the starter.

Winston’s role in New Orleans allowed him to see the field only 21 times across four seasons. Just 10 of those games were starts. After a run with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to begin his NFL career, Winston realized he might be utilized as a backup for the foreseeable future.

With the Cleveland Browns, injuries put Winston on the field in 12 games. He even started seven matchups just last year, throwing nearly 300 passes. He might not be battling for a starting position, but Winston can sure play.

Then, there’s the first-round rookie, Jaxson Dart. After getting selected out of Ole Miss this year, the Giants will hope that Dart can learn plenty from Wilson and Winston. So far, it seems like the QB room is in a strong place early on in the offseason.
