A crazed gunman stormed a wedding at a New Hampshire country club and opened fire, leaving one dead and several injured Saturday night, according to police and local reports.

The shooter burst into the dining room at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua around 7:30 p.m., spraying bullets at the frantic crowd until a heroic guest smashed a chair over his head, witnesses told WHDH 7 News.

The man, whose name has not be released, was knocked to his knees, dropped his gun, and then fled through the kitchen while “yelling some things,” a witness recounted to the outlet.

Lowell resident Sophie Flabouris said she was attending the Nashua couple’s nuptials when multiple gunshots rang out and guests scattered and screamed in panic.

“Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, and then, ‘Gun, run’ and people started screaming and running,” Flabouris told the local station of the “surreal” moment.

“Some people ran out the door. Some people ran into the kitchen. People ran all different directions.”

One man was shot and killed, with several more injured, Attorney General John Formella and Nashua Police Chief Kevin Rourke announced late Saturday night.

Officials did not specify if those wounded were shot.

About half a dozen people, who were reportedly hurt when the mayhem erupted, were hospitalized with non-gunshot injuries, WMUR 9 reported, citing sources.

The gunman was arrested at the scene, officials said.

“Video surveillance has confirmed there was only one shooter and they are currently being detained,” police said on X around 9:30 p.m.

“The scene is still an active investigation but there is no further danger to the public.”

Early reports from the scene said that there was a second gunman on the loose, but police said there was only one shooter.

Multiple police agencies and first responders responded to the scene and warned residents to avoid the area, according to local reports.

Shelter-in-place orders were issued in neighboring towns because of the early reports of a second gunman that were later said to be unfounded.

About two dozen guests in dresses and suits were seen around 11 p.m. exiting busses at a nearby Sheraton hotel, which has since been designated a reunification center, WCVB reported.

“I’m closely monitoring the tragic reports of a shooting tonight at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua,” Rep. Maggie Goodlander posted on X.

“My heart is with the victims, their families, and the entire Nashua community as we await more information.”

US Sen. Jeanne Shaheen also shared prayers for the victims and denounced gun violence.

“My team and I are closely monitoring reports of the horrific tragedy at Sky Meadow County Club tonight,” the Democrat posted on X.

“Billy and I are praying for those injured. There is no place in our state for this type of senseless violence.”

The country club, which also operates as a golf course, regularly hosts events such as weddings — including one reportedly held today, according to its website.

Nashua is about 44 miles northwest of Boston, Massachusetts.

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
