Paige Bueckers’ competitive spirit knows no bounds.
The Dallas Wings posted a video Wednesday of an adorable six-year-old child named Elizabeth interviewing Bueckers, Arike Ogwumike, and JJ Quinnerly.
Elizabeth asked Bueckers if she would beat her in a 1-on-1 basketball game, and Bueckers replied, “I think it would be pretty tough. I think you’d give me a run for my money, but I’m gonna have to go with yeah.” Truth hurts, kid.
Elsewhere in the video, Ogwumike revealed that Bueckers curses more than anyone on the team — an assessment with which Bueckers agreed — but the Wings stars stopped short of ruining the tooth fairy for Elizabeth.
Later Wednesday, the Wings (3-2) defeated the Chicago Sky (3-2) in Chicago, and Bueckers led the team with 24 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the floor. After the game, Bueckers took it back to when she was closer to Elizabeth’s age when speaking about Sky veteran guard Natasha Cloud.
“Me and Tash are, like, really close,” Bueckers said at her postgame presser. “I got to grow up watching her play in the D.C. area, so I’ve just always been a huge fan of her game. I’m really happy that she got this opportunity to play with the Chicago Sky. She deserves it, and there’s a real mutual love and respect there.”
Bueckers starred at UConn, winning the national championship in 2025, before the Wings took her No. 1 overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft. She won WNBA Rookie of the Year and earned All-Rookie and All-WNBA honors, along with her first of many All-Star selections.
The Wings finished with a league-worst 10-34 record in 2025, however, so Bueckers likely cares more about the fact that the Wings are already 30% of the way to matching last year’s win total by the fifth game of this season.
