Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young had the best season of his NFL career in 2025.

Young threw for 3,011 yards, 23 touchdowns and 11 interceptions with an 87.8 passer rating while rushing for 216 yards, and two touchdowns. He also led the Panthers to their first division championship since 2015.

But the team’s primary backup Andy Dalton was traded in the offseason to the Philadelphia Eagles, which means the team was in the market for another QB.

Though 2022 first-round pick Kenny Pickett is on the roster, Carolina clearly wanted some more competition heading into training camp, which is why the team signed one of the more productive college QBs immediately after the 2026 NFL draft.

“Former Georgia Tech QB Haynes King is signing with the Panthers on a deal that includes $250,000 guaranteed, source said,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero wrote on X.

King, the ACC Player of the Year, ACC Offensive Player of the Year, and first-team All-ACC selection, was one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the country.

He threw for 2,951 yards, 14 touchdowns, and six interceptions, and rushed for another 953 yards and 15 touchdowns.

In six college seasons split between Texas A&M and Georgia Tech, King totaled 9,486 yards, 65 touchdowns, and 34 interceptions, plus 2,427 yards rushing and 37 additional touchdowns.
