Patrick Schwarzenegger was a hands-on groom when planning his wedding to now-wife Abby Champion.
“Funny enough, it’s more Patrick’s personality to dive into the flowers and little details,” Champion, 28, told Vogue in a Saturday, September 13, profile of the pair’s recent nuptials. “He helped with so much, which I absolutely loved.”
Schwarzenegger, 31, and Champion tied the knot on the shore of Lake Coeur d’Alene in Idaho, on September 6, in a minimalistic ceremony.
“I was a little terrified of bees, so I wanted to avoid anything too elaborate,” Champion told the outlet, noting she and Schwarzenegger chose white roses and hydrangeas as floral arrangements. “It turned out perfectly.”
She continued, “I still can’t believe it’s over. It all flew by like a dream, [and] I’m so excited to start this next chapter with Patrick.”
The decor wasn’t the only dreamy aspect of the nuptials — Champion and Schwarzenegger’s wedding wardrobe also stole the show. While the White Lotus star sported a blue Haider Ackermann for Tom Ford suit for the occasion, Champion donned a custom bridal gown from Danielle Frankel. The column dress featured a high neck, dramatic deep-V back and a silk overskirt that had a hand-painted lining.
“Since fitting and fashion are part of my profession, I knew I wanted to work with someone I felt completely comfortable with, someone I could openly share my thoughts and opinions with,” Champion, a model, added to Vogue. “From the moment I met Danielle, I knew she was the one.”
Frankel, 37, felt the same about collaborating with Champion.
“The wonderful thing about working with Abby is she has a true understanding of fit, construction and fashion at large as it relates to her wedding,” the bridal designer gushed to Vogue. “The gown evolved as the fittings progressed — a true design process, as if we were in development rather than going from sketch to finish, which is the proper way to design a bespoke gown. By the end of our work together, we felt like family, as Abby’s sister Baskin and her nephew joined the fittings.”
Patrick, the eldest son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and ex-wife Maria Shriver, started dating Champion in 2016. They got engaged seven years later in December 2023.
Less than a year after popping the question, Patrick teased to Us Weekly that he and Champion were taking their time organizing the big day.
“We haven’t even started,” he told Us exclusively in April 2024. “We are slow! I’m working right now, so I’m out of town for the next bit.”
