A pedestrian has been killed in an alleged-hit-and-run, with the car found burned out and its driver on the run.

The 72-year-old woman from Kingston was struck by a Toyota Hilux ute travelling east on Beenleigh Road in Runcorn just before 7.30pm on Sunday.

She was taken with critical injuries to Princess Alexandra Hospital, where she died.

The vehicle police believe she was hit by was found burned out at Avalon Road in Sheldon.

Its driver could not be found.

Investigators called for anyone who witnessed the crash or has CCTV from the area to come forward.
