The Baltimore Orioles desperately need to a starting pitcher to their roster this offseason. Their pitching staff struggled last season after the front office neglected upgrading it.

This pitching staff caused the Orioles to miss the postseason, which shouldn’t be the case given their offensive firepower. They could dive back into free agency and sign one of the best players on the market.

Bleacher Report’s Tim Kelly predicted the Orioles would sign star pitcher Ranger Suárez away from the Philadelphia Phillies in free agency.

“The O’s have already acquired Shane Baz via trade and re-signed Zach Eflin this offseason, but Suárez would top off a rotation that also includes Trevor Rogers and Kyle Bradish,” Kelly wrote. “President of baseball operations Mike Elias has been aggressive this offseason, signing both Pete Alonso and Ryan Helsley, while trading for Taylor Ward. Suárez’s addition would help to assure Baltimore bounces back from a woeful 2025 season that saw them finish in last place in the AL East with just 75 wins.”

Suárez would be the ideal addition for the Phillies this offseason. He’s one of the better left handed pitchers in baseball and he’s coming off a career year.

The Orioles have shown in the past that they’re willing to spend money, as evidenced by the addition of Pete Alonso earlier this offseason. Now, they’re going to need to give up the same level of contract to poach Suárez away from the Phillies.
