The Los Angeles Rams began the offseason with two picks in the first round of the 2026 NFL draft, but after trading for All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie from the Kansas City Chiefs, they’re down to a single top-15 pick.

There are many directions the Rams could go, but most draft experts expect them to add another offensive weapon for quarterback Matthew Stafford in their quest to win another Super Bowl.

The popular pick among scouts and analysts is USC’s Makai Lemon, while others believe they could target Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson if he slips out of the top 12.

However, ESPN’s Peter Schrager thinks they’ll go a more unconventional route to add an offensive playmaker. In his recent mock draft, Schrager predicts the Rams will make a trade with the Detroit Lions, sending them the No. 13 overall pick in exchange for the No. 17 overall pick, the No. 118 overall pick (Round 4), and a 2027 second-round pick.

After moving back, Schrager then has the Rams taking Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq.

“There’s a lot of Sadiq intrigue in the Rams’ building,” Schrager pointed out. “They already have multiple contributing tight ends, but that depth chart could look different in a year — especially since current TE1 Colby Parkinson is a free agent in 2027.

“Sadiq is an explosive pass catcher who could help Matthew Stafford in a key go-for-it year in L.A., and you know coach Sean McVay would figure out ways to get the ball in Sadiq’s hands. This would be the second year in a row that the Rams took an Oregon tight end after going with Terrance Ferguson in Round 2 last April.”

Landing Sadiq at 17 would be a steal for Los Angeles.

Him falling that far seems unlikely considering the Rams pick two spots after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and two picks before the Carolina Panthers — both TE-need teams.

Sadiq falling to 17 would also mean the Kansas City Chiefs would pass on him earlier in the round, which could prompt the Rams to grab him quickly considering KC picks just a few selections after L.A.
