The Baltimore Ravens have had to play a majority of their season without superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson, and now they’re hoping they don’t have to finish the year without him.

Jackson put quite a scare into fans when he left Baltimore’s Week 16 “Sunday Night Football” matchup against the New England Patriots in the final two minutes of the second quarter with an apparent injury.

NBC broadcasters Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth speculated Jackson may have been kicked in the ribs and dealing with a chest injury, however, NBC sideline reporter Melissa Stark gave a more detailed update right before halftime.

“We just got word from the team he’s questionable to return with a back injury,” Stark stated. “He had a really hard time going down the stairs and coming back up those stairs to get to the locker room. He was grimacing in pain.”

Tyler Huntley, who made his only career Pro Bowl as Jackson’s backup in 2022, came on in relief of Jackson. The Ravens won Huntley’s lone start of the season back in Week 8 — a 30-16 victory over the NFC North-leading Chicago Bears.

This is a developing story and more updates will be provided as they are made available.
