The unscripted exchange between Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte Flair on Friday’s WWE SmackDown has become a significant point of discussion among fans. Reports indicate that the two performers went away from the planned dialogue, and took personal shots at each other.
Notably, WWE has taken steps to edit out specific portions of the segment from their digital video recaps. Stratton said Charlotte would forever remain in the shadow of her father, Ric Flair, and would ultimately end up “alone.”
Additionally, Stratton made a pointed reference to a “0-3” record, which is about Charlotte having three divorces. Flair asked why Kaiser was in her DM’s, which was a reference to Stratton’s boyfriend.
WWE also removed Stratton’s comparison of their lives at the age of 25, where she claimed to be “walking into WrestleMania as a champion” while Flair was supposedly “drinking in her daddy’s basement.”
Addressing the controversy on Busted Open Radio (H/T to to Fightful), Ric shared his perspective on the segment, stating, “I have an opinion, but I don’t really want to voice it. I can say this, it’s very sensitive. I didn’t like it, but wrestling is wrestling,” Flair said.
“I hate when they use me, but Charlotte said it right, you think that’s the first time hearing my name? I want to clarify this. She is ten times the athlete that I am. So much better of a worker than I ever was. I can’t do half the things that she does. It’s not like she’s 5’2” and 103 pounds. She’s 5’11 and weighs 145 pounds.”
“She works so hard. Undertaker said it best, ‘The Queen came back and regained her crown.’ She deserves it. She’ll be the best worker in the business, female, until the day she decides to retire.”

Reflecting on the boundaries of in-ring promos, Ric recalled his own experiences with legendary opponents like Terry Funk and Dusty Rhodes, noting that “family was never brought up.”
When asked about the consequences of crossing the line in a promo, Flair stated, “It never happened. I’m 0-4. There is a reason I’m 0-4. When you’re gone six months at a time, people say, ‘Why did you get married when you’re gone?'”
David LeGreca expressed surprise that Charlotte’s personal life was seemingly brought up without any prior backstage discussion between the two wrestlers.
“I don’t know the answer to that,” Flair said. “I would assume there was no discussion of that before, but I don’t have any idea. I’m not privy to know that. I would imagine they probably didn’t discuss it.”
