A bicyclist was stabbed by a hatchet-wielding maniac in the ribs after an argument in Fresno on Monday morning.
The Fresno Police Department received reports about the stabbing on Belmont Avenue and Effie Street at around 7:45 a.m. according to The Fresno Bee.
The victim was biking with his friend west on Belmont when the suspect came out of a nearby neighborhood and started arguing with them. He then pulled out a small hatchet and stabbed the bicyclist near the right rib cage and back.
As part of the investigation, police blocked off a part of Belmont and a bus station located at the intersection. The victim was taken to a hospital and is in steady condition.
The identities of the victim and suspect have not yet been released.
Most recently, two people were arrested after a stabbing incident at a gas station in Fresno late July. One person was pulling up to get gas while another driver was backing up to refuel at the same gas pump, which led to an argument.
“What we were told was there was a victim of a stabbing. My officers arrived on scene, located the victim over here in the bushes with significant stab wound to his right thigh area,” Officer Alfonso Castillo told CBS47.
A person was also stabbed by a 25-year-old man outside the city Superior Courthouse early June.
“Around 12:15 pm on Tuesday, a disturbance took place between two men outdoors, between the Hall of Records and the main Superior Courthouse. One of the men ultimately collapsed after being stabbed multiple times,” the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office release in a statement at the time of the incident.
