The New Orleans Saints came into their Week 5 game against the New York Giants in desperate need of a victory, sitting at 0-4 through the first four weeks of the season. But unfortunately, one key injury in the first quarter of Sunday’s game may make this task extremely difficult.

While there haven’t been very many positives to speak of coming from the Saints this year, their ability to limit opposing teams in the passing game has been just that, allowing just the 13th most passing yards in football through four weeks.

A big part of their pass defense has been the presence of longtime Kansas City Chiefs star safety Justin Reid, an offseason addition this year after helping the Chiefs win two Super Bowl championships during his time with the team from 2022 to 2024.

Unfortunately, Reid didn’t get much of a chance to make much of an impact in Sunday’s game, suffering a head injury that forced him to get evaluated in the medical tent in the first quarter against the Giants.

Shortly after being evaluated, it was reported by the Saints’ social media team that Reid had been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday’s game with a concussion.

Going against a rookie quarterback in his second career game in Jaxson Dart, the Saints would certainly love as many established veterans as possible on the field defensively to try and give Dart fits. Given how productive Reid has proven to be throughout his eight-year NFL career, his absence certainly profiles to be an incredibly impactful one.
