The Seattle Seahawks are on top of the world after defeating the New England Patriots, 29-13, in a dominant Super Bowl performance.
Playing for his fifth team in his NFL career, quarterback Sam Darnold threw 19-of-38 completions for 202 yards and a touchdown, with no interceptions. Darnold finally reached the ultimate achievement for a quarterback after earlier criticism during his career.
However, the game’s outcome was largely due to Seattle’s tough defense, which held the Patriots scoreless through three quarters, and to Kenneth Walker III, who ran for 135 yards and added 26 receiving yards.
While typically a winning Super Bowl quarterback picks up the Most Valuable Player award, Walker received the award for his significant contribution to the offense.
When is Seahawks QB Sam Darnold Getting Married?
Various NFL stars reacted to seeing Seattle’s second Super Bowl victory in franchise history, and a cryptic post from Los Angeles Rams player Puka Nacua attracted attention.
Nacua tweeted “Sam Darnold” with a crying laughing emoji before it as his message on X. That didn’t go unnoticed by Darnold’s teammate, Seahawks’ linebacker Ernest Jones.
“Ain’t you at home. Goofy a**,” Jones fired back, showing he had Darnold’s back in the situation.
One has to wonder what Nacua was laughing about, since Darnold is now a Super Bowl champion. In addition, the Seahawks defeated two division opponents to reach the big game: the San Francisco 49ers, followed by the Rams.
Nacua, NFL MVP Matthew Stafford, and the Rams battled Seattle in the NFC Championship Game and lost a close matchup, 31-27.
Nacua had a huge game against the Rams with nine receptions for 165 yards and a touchdown. Darnold also had a big game, throwing for 346 yards and three touchdowns to guide his team to the Super Bowl.
Jones also stepped up in that game, leading the team with eight total tackles, six of which were unassisted. His first stint in the league was with the Rams, where he also won a Super Bowl ring, making him a two-time champion alongside his Seahawks teammate, Cooper Kupp.
Meanwhile, Puka, who joined the Rams as a rookie in 2023, has yet to win a ring himself, and based on early odds for next year’s winner, the Rams might have to get past Seattle if they want to win it.
