Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers are set to face off against his former team, the New York Jets, in Week 1. With Super Bowl aspirations very clearly surrounding the organization, there is a lot of pressure on the team to get off to a quick start.

Much of their Super Bowl hopes will depend on the play of Rodgers. Can he be the quarterback that drives them on a deep playoff run?

Last season with the Jets, Rodgers put together a strong year. He completed 63 percent of his pass attempts for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Those numbers should rise within the Steelers’ offense.

However, there is a legitimate concern about Rodgers being 41 years old. He’ll turn 42 in December.

Browns Legend Speaks Out With Bold Shedeur Sanders Opinion

With that being said, a new update has been shared by Jeff Howe of The Athletic about the future Hall of Fame quarterback ahead of the season opener. He has been very active in taking a leadership role for the team.

“Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has added a level of accountability on the practice field and in the facility, according to sources around the team,” Howe wrote. “The offense appears to still be working through some things, as there’s been a lot of turnover at key positions, but Rodgers has been intentional about teaching as much as possible after each play. Don’t be shocked if it’s bumpy out of the gate. However, it’s fair to be cautiously optimistic that Rodgers, wideout DK Metcalf and company will eventually find their rhythm.”

That is great news for Pittsburgh. Rodgers being fully bought in and doing everything in his power to win football games usually bodes well.

At times throughout his career, Rodgers has shown little interest in working with his teammates. If he becomes active with the offense and teaches every bit of football wisdom that he can teach, the Steelers could reach their goals.

Steelers’ Will Howard Speaks Out With Strong Aaron Rodgers Message

Only time will tell, but this is as good of an update before the start of a season that any team could get.

It will be interesting to see what the upcoming season has in store for Pittsburgh. Rodgers certainly seems to be doing everything in his power to lead the Steelers to wins. Hopefully, that leadership pays off.
