When they say “sit back and relax,” this airline means it.

As the travel industry seemingly trends away from space and comfort, one airline is providing passengers — even those flying economy — with a luxurious perk.

Savvy sleepyheads know that Lufthansa offers a Sleeper’s Row, allowing passengers to book an entire row in economy so they can lie down across the seats — without shelling out for upgrades to business- or first-class seats.

However, there are a couple of catches. The seats are only available on flights that are 11 hours or more, and you can’t book them in advance.

Lufthansa Sleeper’s Row, which was quietly rolled out in 2021, offers a whole row of three or four seats in economy class on long-haul flights.

The Sleeper’s Row can be booked directly when you check in for your flight or at the gate shortly before departure, dependent on availability.

If you’re able to snag the row on your flight, you’ll be given a Sleeper’s Row set once on board, which features a thin mattress, a Business Class-quality blanket and pillow.

“You can lie down, stretch out and enjoy the extra space for the entire duration of your flight,” the airline’s website says.

If you aren’t able to get a Sleeper’s Row, Lufthansa offers another economy luxury called a Free Neighbor Seat, which allows passengers to book the seat next to them on continental and intercontinental routes.

Of course, there’s also the option to splurge on first class, and the carrier recently updated its first-class experience in March 2025.

“We are completely reinventing the Lufthansa First Class travel experience with Allegris and making it even more exclusive,” Jens Ritter, Chief Executive Officer Lufthansa Airlines, said in a statement at the time.

“Our new First Class, with its unique suites, defines the concept of privacy like never before and is unrivaled worldwide. We are also investing in exclusivity and comfort on the ground by completely redesigning our First Class check-in areas and lounges in Munich and Frankfurt.”
