Trinidad Chambliss reflected on the departure of former head coach Lane Kiffin to LSU, describing it as a difficult and unusual situation while still expressing appreciation for the opportunity he was given at Ole Miss.
Chambliss, who transferred from Division II Ferris State and was initially a backup behind Austin Simmons, stepped into the starting role after an early-season injury and went on to lead the Rebels to the College Football Playoff semifinals. Kiffin’s exit came after the regular season finale, a move that drew heavy scrutiny in Mississippi.
Speaking about the transition, Chambliss said the timing made things especially challenging.
“Yeah, it was definitely a weird process, him leaving right when we were getting a chance to play for everything we had worked for,” Chambliss said via On3. “I guess I wasn’t used to that situation and how he handled it.”
Still, he made it clear there was no lingering resentment toward his former coach.
“No hate or any less love for Coach Kiffin,” he added. “He gave me a great opportunity to come here and play football, and I’m truly grateful for that.”

Both Ole Miss and LSU are expected to be serious contenders out of the SEC, setting the stage for a highly competitive conference slate and several marquee matchups.
One of the most anticipated games will be Lane Kiffin’s return to Oxford on Sept. 19, when LSU visits Ole Miss in an early-season showdown against his former team.
