The Golden State Warriors have had a very quiet NBA offseason, mostly due to the restricted free agency situation they have been going through with Jonathan Kuminga.

While there are a couple of players, Al Horford and De’Anthony Melton, who have been rumored to have verbal agreements with the Warriors, no major moves have been made. As the team looks to build a championship contender around Stephen Curry, something will need to give soon.

As the Kuminga situation continues to drag on, another name has been brought up as a possible target for Golden State.

Keith Smith of Spotrac has suggested Malik Beasley as a possible target for the Warriors. In a post on X taking note of the teams who could look to sign the veteran sharpshooter, he brought up that Golden State could get involved.

“GSW could get involved, but their situation is complicated by J. Kuminga RFA status and multiple open roster spots,” Smith wrote.

Beasley is still available in free agency due to some non-basketball related issues and is one of the best players left to be signed. Plenty of teams could use his shooting ability.

During the 2024-25 NBA season with the Detroit Pistons, Beasley was a huge part of the run the team went on. He was extremely valuable offensively and was a solid defensive presence as well.

Throughout the course of the year, the 28-year-old shooting guard played in all 82 games and made 18 starts. He averaged 16.3 points per game to go along with 2.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 0.9 steals, while also shooting 43 percent overall and 41.6 percent from three-point range.

Making a move for Beasley could make a lot of sense for the Warriors. He would fit in with the style of offense Steve Kerr runs. Any three-point shooter can fit in with Golden State.

Warriors Receive Crushing Jonathan Kuminga Update

Depending on the price tag, he could be a very valuable bench addition. If the Warriors were to move on from Kuminga in a sign-and-trade, he could help replace the production lost off of the bench, albeit at a completely different position.

Expect to continue hearing rumors about Golden State in the coming days and weeks. Kuminga’s situation will need to get figured out fairly soon. When that happens, the Warriors will look to put in some work and round out their roster.
