Danny Ramirez is Hollywood’s breakout star, and he’s had a pretty impressive career trajectory so far.
The actor, who has starred in On My Block and Top Gun: Maverick, made headlines in July 2025 after he was spotted with Jessica Alba. The pair were photographed leaving Cancún and heading back to Los Angeles in photos obtained by TMZ.
The trip came a few months after Alba’s split from Cash Warren. The actress filed for divorce from her husband in February 2025 after 16 years of marriage. They share three children: Honor, Haven and Hayes.

Danny Ramirez Is a Former Athlete
Ramirez, who was born on September 17, 1992, played soccer at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta.
“As a little kid, I was like, ‘There’s only one thing I’m going to be when I grow up, and it’s a pro athlete,’” he told Empire in February 2025.
An ankle injury forced him to sit out during his freshman year as he recovered. While Ramirez was on crutches, a production assistant from 2012’s The Reluctant Fundamentalist visited the soccer field.
“A PA from a film came in to ask if [any of us wanted to be] extras,” Ramirez recalled, adding, “The next day is when I bought all my acting books.”
He Is Close to Tom Cruise
Ramirez shared the screen with Cruise, Miles Teller, Glen Powell, Monica Barbaro, Lewis Pullman and Jon Hamm in 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick. He still talks to Cruise frequently and leans on him for advice.
“To this day, we text all the time; he’s still one of the fastest repliers on the planet. He replies faster than [Maverick costar] Jay Ellis does. But the thing I learned most was: How you do anything is how you do everything,” Ramirez told Men’s Health in February 2025. “It’s a fine line, making something that works and something that doesn’t. But he has a quality of understanding the craft so much that it gives an ultimate freedom of understanding. Not only of the film, but how the film is going to be received.”
He continued, “So, it’s been absolutely about busting my ass. Make sure everything I have control over, I have, and at the same time, let all of that go leading up to the project. There’s only so much you can do.”

Ramirez’s acting credits include appearances in Orange Is the New Black, The Affair and Blindspot. He starred in Assassination Nation, The Giant, Valley Girl, Black Mirror and Silo. One of his best-known roles thus far has been portraying Joaquin Torres/Falcon in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Captain America: Brave New World.
He Has a Special Connection With Pedro Pascal
In 2025, Ramirez made his debut as Manny Alvarez in The Last of Us, opposite Pedro Pascal. He will be sharing the screen with Pascal again in 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday.
“Pedro and I are going to work for a really long time, I love him. He’s incredibly intuitive, and the way he breaks story, I mean, he’s Pedro for a reason,” he gushed. “It’s not just because he’s a star. He’s a star in one way, but he’s also an artist, and incredibly raw and vulnerable in his approach to everything, so I’m excited for our careers in working together. But the dynamic was really funny showing up to set, and even showing up to set in Canada with him for The Last of Us.”
Danny Ramirez Is a Fitness Buff
Ramirez revealed that he was determined to get into great physical shape for his Falcon role with the help of his trainer, Nic Shimonek.
“A lot of the stuff we’re doing, and a lot of his warm-ups, are movements that feel animalistic. Lizard crawls, bear crawls,” the actor said. “A lot of things that feel natural but also primal. That’s the stuff that ended up paying off the most, because every day I was warming up my shoulders in a very specific way: bear crawls and Spider-Man crawls. And not just to mention Spider-Man while talking about a Marvel movie. That ended up paying off the most, because my shoulders ended up receiving a lot more full attention.”
