Spencer Lofranco Was Born and Raised in Canada
The actor was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on October 18, 1992, to parents Rocco (Rocky) C. Lofranco and mom Amy Lofranco, who was an opera singer. Alongside his brother, Santino Lofranco, the brothers were raised in Thornhill, Ontario, before Spencer went to military school from ninth to 12th grade.
While he was growing up, Spencer became interested in acting at a young age because he would attend auditions with his mom.
“My mom growing up was a dancer, an opera singer, and she also did acting. Growing up, sometimes my mom would take me to auditions and I would sit in the waiting room with her,” Spencer shared in an Interview magazine article in January 2014. “My dad didn’t want me to be an actor; he wanted me to be a hockey player and become a lawyer. That didn’t happen. “
Spencer didn’t know he fully wanted to be an actor until he “was 17.”
“I was always a funny guy, always trying to make people laugh and always the center of attention,” he shared with the outlet. “I guess I was being an actor my whole life. I finally realized what I was doing and it was just getting me in trouble. I went to summer acting classes. Then I did a year conservatory at New York Film Academy and then that’s when I got Jamesy Boy.”
Spencer Lofranco Appeared in 7 Films
Throughout his career, Spencer appeared in 2013’s At Middleton, Jamesy Boy and Unbroken in 2014, Home and Dixieland in 2015, 2016’s King Cobra and 2018’s Gotti.
“I want to do real-life, candid films,” he told Interview magazine in January 2014. “I don’t want to be thrown into anything that could jeopardize my career. I want to be wise about what I choose. Actors whose choices I’ve liked are Sean Penn, Leonardo DiCaprio, River Phoenix.”
Spencer Lofranco’s Final Role Was in ‘Gotti’ Alongside John Travolta
Spencer’s last film role was in the 2018 biographical crime film Gotti, which he starred in alongside John Travolta, Kelly Preston, Pruitt Taylor Vince, William DeMeo, Leo Rossi, Chris Kerson, Stacy Keach and Chris Mulkey.
Based on real-life events, Gotti follows the story of New York City mobster John Gotti (Travolta) as he found his way into the Gambino crime family. Spencer played the role of Travolta’s onscreen son, John “Junior” Gotti.
Spencer Lofranco Was Previously Convicted of Misdemeanor Hit and Run
In August 2013, Spencer struck bicyclist Camille Banham with his SUV. She suffered severe injuries, including a broken hip and multiple fractures, per CBS News.
According to officials, Spencer got out of his car and apologized to Banham before fleeing the scene.
“I used to call what happened to me an accident, and it would’ve been an accident if Spencer had stayed and helped me after he got out of his car and saw me injured on the side of the road, but instead he chose to leave me,” Banham reportedly said during a sentencing hearing in May 2015 according to CBS News.
Due to Banham’s statement, the judge increased Spencer’s sentence from 10 days community service to 50 days community service along with two years probation and $161,000 in restitution.
While Spencer’s charge was reduced to a misdemeanor, his defense attorney, Michael Levin, said the incident left the actor in fear.
“It was an accident,” Levin told CBS News at the time. “The crime here was not leaving his identification at the scene. That’s not what injured her, and for that reason you have to look at not so much the injuries as you have to look at what happened after and what happened after does not make him a monster.”
Spencer Lofranco Was Homeless Living in Los Angeles
In a June 2018 YouTube video, Spencer shared that he was homeless and living on the Venice boardwalk with his dog.
“ I do art out here,” Spencer told YouTuber Brennen Taylor, adding that he liked living there but “you’re like fully exposed because everyone’s always walking around” near him. “There’s no privacy. It’s like if you lived in a glass house.”
