An 80-year-old woman walking on a Brooklyn sidewalk was killed Friday by a luxury car driver who hopped the curb, cops said.
The tragedy occurred just before 1:30 p.m. when the 63-year-old driver made a right onto East 92nd Street from Rutland Road in East Flatbush, according to the NYPD.
“A car came up on the sidewalk and scooped [her] underneath the car and just dragged her,” said Smiley Adams, who witnessed the horrifying crash after hearing a “loud bang” and “tires screeching.”
“I couldn’t believe it. It didn’t look like real life. It looked like a movie … I’ve never seen nothing like that happen in real life.”
Other witnesses rushed to the accident scene — but it was clear there was “nothing you could really do.”
The victim — who another witness said was pinned against the wall of a business — was pronounced dead at the scene.
Alarming pictures show the busted white Lexus RX 350 halted in the middle of the sidewalk.
The car’s broken bumper, pieces of concrete and shreds of a torn-up tree are scattered along the pavement.
The tragedy happened so fast that the victim had no time to escape, Adams said, saying he didn’t know if the crash was an “accident.”
It’s not clear how the Lexus ended up on the sidewalk, but the intersection is notorious among locals for being dangerous.
“It could be anyone. They come around this corner fast a lot. They try to catch the light, make the right turn and end up on the sidewalk. It’s very scary,” said Kim, who declined to give her last name.
The driver, 63, remained at the scene of the accident.
There have been no arrests and an investigation is ongoing.
