A cat from Ottawa has captured hearts after her owner decided to give her a microphone to record her daily antics in full audio.

Emily, who shares her cat Bambi online, delighted fans in a recent post by attaching a tiny microphone to capture her pet’s unique sounds and sassy meows in full. The results were a hit: a feisty, talkative feline demanding attention while stomping into the spotlight.

‘Stompy Kitty’

Bambi’s signature stomp is a key part of the microphone moment, and comes from a neurological condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH), sometimes referred to as “wobbly cat syndrome.” The condition develops before birth if a pregnant cat is exposed to the feline panleukopenia virus, leaving the kitten’s cerebellum underdeveloped.

“CH is not progressive, cats with it are pain free, and they have a normal life expectancy,” Emily told Newsweek. “That is why Bambi has her signature stomps and unique way of walking. It is actually part of what makes her so special and recognizable.”

While Bambi may be small, Emily says her cat has a “big personality”—something that shines through on camera.

“I had a feeling this diva would show off for the mic, so I was not surprised she gave me so many great moments,” Emily said.

In the video, the sound of Bambi’s stomping, licking, meowing and general everyday life has delighted viewers. With 2.1 million views on Instagram, people shared their reactions in the comments.

One commenter joked that Bambi is a “professional upstairs neighbor,” while another Instagram user quipped: “Sass level: expert.”

“She’s got places to be,” joked another viewer. While one Instagram user said: “A true diva! That stompy walk is model material.”

Others were inspired by the video to get a microphone for their own cat. “Wow I’ve never ordered anything as fast as I just ordered that mic,” said one viewer.

With 254,000 followers on Instagram, Bambi is well-loved by her online community—something that gives her owner joy.

“I love sharing Bambi’s personality online, and I hoped it would make people laugh,” Emily said. “The reaction has been amazing, seeing so many people connect with her and smile because of her makes me so happy.”
