A woman who rescued a puppy named Finnley from a shelter in Indonesia with her boyfriend was told he would likely never “develop” healthily, but after taking a chance, the couple couldn’t believe his transformation.
Finnley’s owner, who runs the TikTok account @finnleybrooks, told Newsweek that the pup was found as a stray in Indonesia along with his littermates. With no mother in sight and dangerous traffic surrounding the nearly 6-week-old puppies, a shelter rescued them.
“I was volunteering at the shelter and fell in love with him immediately,” Finney’s owner said. “First time I saw him, he was about 8 weeks and in recovery.”
She wanted to adopt him, but she was told that because of his skin condition, he would always look scruffy and likely “never develop in a normal healthy way.” But that didn’t stop her. She said she “loved his character” and after about a week of getting to know him, she and her boyfriend adopted him.
They took Finnley with them as they traveled through Asia before bringing him to his forever home in Belgium about three years ago. The dog’s fur and skin started looking better since he first arrived at the animal shelter, and they quickly learned he has a “spicy” personality, but she said: “He’s the joy of our lives!”
In a TikTok video that was posted on Thursday, Finnley’s owner showed the night-and-day difference between when she adopted him and what he looks like today. The first clip shows him as a puppy in the shelter. Scared, his ears pinned back. You could see his ribs sticking out among his scruffy fur.
The second part of the video gives viewers a glimpse at Finnley now, and he no longer looks unhealthy. Instead, he sits looking strong as the camera pans over him. His fur is glowing and smooth. And to complete his perfect appearance, he rocks a puka-shell necklace.
TikTok Users React
Stunned by the dog’s transformation, the TikTok video reached over 17,000 views within one day. Users flooded the comments section, calling Finnley gorgeous and majestic.
“Best Glow up I’ve ever seen,” one user wrote.
Another added: “Love heals all.”
A third user commented: “The most handsome of all the best boys.”
A fourth jokingly posted: “Someone ‘yassified’ dobby.”
