A new report has shed light on the physical status of WWE Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer. It confirmed that the current titleholder is dealing with a legitimate medical issue.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Vaquer has suffered an injury that is real. However, the on-screen presentation of the severity is largely for storyline purposes.
Meltzer clarified that while the injury exists, it is not as debilitating as the television product suggests. He noted that the promotion is “playing up” the damage to add drama to her current rivalry. The actual diagnosis is considered minor.
“She has a legitimate injury but it’s a minor injury, it’s not as big of an injury as they’re playing up. I know that they were supposed to do a match on TV in the next two weeks, I didn’t get the date but I don’t know if it’s going to be quite as soon. But I heard she was going to be cleared pretty quick, so it’s a minor injury but it’s a real injury,” Meltzer said.
The storyline involving Vaquer’s health took a violent turn during this week’s broadcast of “Monday Night Raw” from Germany. Vaquer made a courageous appearance despite her compromised condition.
She attempted to make her entrance in front of the live crowd. However, her momentum was cut short when Raquel Rodriguez, a member of The Judgment Day, launched a blindside attack.

For the second consecutive week, Rodriguez targeted the champion’s injured leg. The assault escalated when Rodriguez utilized the Women’s World Championship belt itself as a weapon.
She smashed it into Vaquer’s leg to inflict maximum damage before retreating. This followed a similar incident the previous week where Vaquer was spotted in a walking boot, only to be laid out by the powerhouse challenger.
The friction between the two stems from the December 29 episode of “Raw,” where Vaquer successfully defended her championship in a Triple Threat match that also included Nikki Bella. Rodriguez has maintained that she was never pinned in that contest and is therefore owed a singles opportunity for the gold.
While that match has not been officially announced. The repeated attacks suggest that WWE is building toward a high-stakes confrontation once Vaquer is medically cleared to compete. With the “Road to WrestleMania” officially underway, the timing of Vaquer’s return is critical.
WWE’s next major Premium Live Event, the “Royal Rumble,” is scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026. The historic event will take place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, marking a major milestone for the company’s international touring schedule. Vaquer’s quick recovery time suggests she could be ready to defend her title on the massive stage, potentially settling the score with Rodriguez once and for all.
