The Valspar Championship is set to tee off in fewer than 24 hours, but the tournament received some tough last-minute news regarding a few of the best names in the field.

Earlier this week on Monday, Keith Mitchell, Robert MacIntyre, Sudarshan Yellamaraju and William Mouw all withdrew from the Valspar Championship. As a result of their decisions to drop out of the tournament, Doug Ghim, Andrew Putnam, Kris Ventura and Justin Lower will all be in the field.

Those four withdrawals weren’t the last of the bad news for the Valspar Championship, though, as two more top golfers opted to leave the tournament as well.

On Tuesday afternoon, Max Greyserman opted to withdraw from the tournament which opened a spot for fan-favorite Joel Dahmen. Just a day later, one of the best golfers in the world decided to take his name out of the running for the tournament title.

Akshay Bhatia, who took down Daniel Berger in a playoff to win the prestigious Arnold Palmer Invitational earlier this month, withdrew from the Valspar Championship after recording five straight finishes of T-16 or better. Sam Ryder, perhaps most known for his hole-in-one on the iconic No. 16 at the Waste Management, will get a spot in the field after Bhatia’s decision to withdraw.

The tournament still has plenty of big names like Brooks Koepka, Xander Schauffele and Viktor Hovland all competing.
