Adam Sandler brought his loved ones along to celebrate the premiere of Happy Gilmore 2 in the Big Apple.

The actor, 58, appeared alongside his wife, Jackie Sandler, at the New York City event on Monday, July 21. While walking the red carpet, the pair were all smiles as they shared multiple kisses and held hands while posing for photographers. Sandler rocked his signature look for the event, sporting a multicolored Hawaiian shirt, orange shorts, socks and sneakers, while Jackie, 50, stunned in a floor-length black gown.

Sandler’s daughters, Sadie, 19, and Sunny, 16, were also at the premiere, and the family posed with the rest of the cast for a photo op before heading inside.

Both Sadie and Sunny appear in the sequel, which takes place nearly 30 years after the first film from 1996. Jackie, 50, also has a part in the sports comedy. Adam reprised his role as the titular character in the Netflix adaptation alongside Julie Bowen’s Virginia Venit and Christopher McDonald’s Shooter McGavin.

Earlier in the day, Adam shared what it was like stepping back into the role again, much to the delight of fans.

“He’s older. He’s a little thicker, as you can tell from one of these camera angles,” the actor said during an appearance on Good Morning America on Monday morning. “But Happy Gilmore’s life isn’t perfect right now at the beginning of the movie. And he’s a family man, and he’s gettin’ back into the golf game.”

Later on in the interview, Adam also addressed his colorful sense of style, playfully admitting that being required to dress up for formal events still grinds his gears.

“If I get an invite to something that requires a tuxedo, my initial reaction is so mad. I’m so mad,” he said. “Even though it’s gonna be around nice people and all that stuff, I’m just, like, first of all, I gotta have a guy come over and measure me, and then make the tux, and put it on me.’ And then it’s itchy and I’m in a bad mood.”

Adam is known for his casual outfit choices, often sporting basketball shorts and colorful shirts with tennis shoes both out in public and sometimes even on the red carpet.

At the February premiere of Netflix’s Kinda Pregnant, he wore a tan hooded sweatshirt with khaki pants and black sneakers as he posed for photos on the red carpet with Jackie. A few days later, he shocked fans when he attended SNL50: The Anniversary Special in a snazzy tuxedo.
