Now, Ibushi has given an update on his injury status as well as a potential timeline regarding when he’ll return to the squared circle.

“My current condition,” Ibushi shared on Instagram along with a video of himself in the hospital. “One year to fully recover. Two years until I can step into the ring again. I believe in myself more than the doctors. I absolutely don’t believe in that. I know I have amazing DNA that gives me the ability to heal!!”

Ibushi has wrestled with AEW since 2023, officially signing with the promotion in 2025. Sadly, his time with the company has been marred by injury and other physical ailments.

Still, “Golden Star” is a modern legend in the professional wrestling world, particularly in DDT Pro-Wrestling and NJPW. He has earned countless championships during his 21 year career, including the IMGP World Heavyweight Championship and was the inaugural IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.

Ibushi also won multiple pro wrestling tournaments, including Best of the Super Juniors in 2011, the New Japan Cup in 2015, and the G1 Climax in 2019 and 2020.
