All flights in and out of Brussels South Charleroi Airport have been suspended following a reported bomb threat, Belgian media reported on Tuesday.

A bomb was said to be aboard a Ryanair flight approaching the airport from Portugal just before 11 am.

The plane was diverted to a separate area of the airport and a security perimeter was set up, an airport spokesperson told local media.

Airport authorities stopped all flights but said the terminal was not being evacuated as it is outside the 500-metre perimeter.

Police are reportedly carrying out security screenings and will determine when air traffic can resume.

Our journalists are working on this story and will update it as soon as more information becomes available.
