Warner Bros. came to play at this year’s CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Nevada. The studio is coming off an incredible 2025 that saw it rake in more than $4 billion at the box office. However, with a controversial sale to Paramount looming, there is a lot of uncertainty about the studio’s future.

In the meantime, Warner Bros. isn’t slowing down when it comes to making massive projects. The studio’s CinemaCon showcase was filled to the brim with massive announcements, exclusive clips, star appearances and trailer reveals. We’re going to go through everything we learned.

Tom Cruise & Alejandro González Iñárritu Reveal ‘Digger’ Trailer

The showcase started off with a bang when Tom Cruise and Alejandro González Iñárritu surprisingly took the stage to talk about their upcoming film “Digger.” Previously, only a brief teaser had been shown off, but it didn’t include any story details.

At CinemaCon, they debuted a full-fledged trailer that featured a nearly unrecognizable Cruise as Digger Rockwell. We also got to see John Goodman, who appears to have a big role as the President of the United States. Sandra Hüller, Jesse Plemmons and Riz Ahmed also appear in the trailer.

The trailer follows an old and out-of-shape Cruise as a business tycoon who is responsible for some sort of disaster that he has to clean up. Iñárritu’s trademark visual style is on display, and “Digger” seems to have a great, dark sense of humor. Also, Cruise’s performance looks incredible and looks closer to his turn as Les Grossman in “Tropic Thunder” than anything we’ve seen from him in years. This is going to be one of the most anticipated movies of the year once the masses see the trailer.

‘The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum’ Teaser

Though the film isn’t in production yet, Warner Bros. did make sure to give us a smaller teaser for “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum.” They’re definitely leaning into nostalgia for Peter Jackson’s trilogy, as they used Howard Shore’s score and the same font for the teaser.

They also announced the cast, which will feature Jamie Dornan as Strider/Aragorn, Andry Serkis as Gollum/Sméagol, Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Kate Winslet as Marigol, Leo Woodall as Halvard, Lee Pace as Thranduil and Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins.

First Look at ‘Clayface’

Another big surprise was when co-CEO of DC Studios Peter Safran debuted the trailer for “Clayface.” One thing that stands out about the trailer is that they’re very much leaning into horror. We got a few glimpses of intense body horror. The film appears to follow an attractive star, played by Tom Rhys Harries, who suffers some sort of accident that turns him into a clay monster. The trailer didn’t give away too much, but this has a chance to be one of the scariest comic book movies ever made.

Jason Momoa, Milly Alcock and Craig Gillespie Debut ‘Supergirl’ Clip

We’ve already seen first looks and a trailer for the upcoming “Supergirl” movie, so stars Jason Momoa and Milly Alcock, and director Craig Gillespie decided to show off an extended clip from the film. The clip shows Supergirl taking some sort of spaceship bus that takes people to different planets. However, it’s intercepted by space pirates.

Supergirl isn’t near a yellow sun, so her powers aren’t working. She gets ejected into space when a yellow sun that was behind a planet emerges. She gets her powers back and takes care of the space pirates. They also showed a brief teaser that gave us a better look at Momoa’s Lobo. The clip definitely feels tonally similar to James Gunn’s Superman, and Alcock’s Supergirl feels like a fresh take.

Gory Trailer for ‘Evil Dead Burn’

The “Evil Dead” franchise continues to go strong. 2023’s “Evil Dead Rise” was a critical and commercial hit, and now director Sébastien Vaniček is getting a chance to make the latest installment in the form of “Evil Dead Burn.” The trailer shown at CinemaCon likely won’t be released to the public, as they noted that it was filled with unfinished effects and color grading.

However, what was shown will certainly excite horror fans. The trailer is filled with the kind of gore and crazy shots that one would expect from an “Evil Dead” movie. One standout moment is when a character trips over a dishwasher and lands on a bunch of knives that pierce his skin. It also features the iconic POV shot seen in most “Evil Dead” projects.

First Seven Minutes ‘Dune: Part Three’ Showcased

The highlight of the showcase was when over a dozen people dressed in Fremen garb took the stage to introduce the presentation for “Dune: Part Three.” If that wasn’t cool enough, director Denis Villeneuve took the stage to talk about the film. It didn’t stop there, as Jason Momoa, Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet also came up on stage to answer questions.

That wasn’t all. Villeneuve then debuted the first seven minutes of “Dune: Part Three” to much fanfare from the crowd. The clip showed the Fremen, led by Javier Bardem’s Stilgar, seemingly invading a planet with some intense defense. It felt similar to the storming of Normandy from “Saving Private Ryan.” Unfortunately, the clip ended before we got a resolution to the scene, but it was as intense as anything you’ll see in a movie.

Other Notes

Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock showed up to hype up the upcoming “Practical Magic 2.” They also released a trailer for the project.

It was announced that Zach Cregger’s new film “The Flood” will be made under the Warner Bros. label. We’re also getting our first “Game of Thrones” movie titled “Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest.”
