Olympic gold medalist Alysa Liu and Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, the projected No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft, are two of the world’s most popular up-and-coming athletes.
At the top of their respective sports, both have had their names and faces plastered all over the front page in recent months — Liu for her performance in the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics, and Mendoza for winning the Heisman Trophy and leading Indiana to a national championship.
But is it possible the two are romantically involved? Well, the internet seems to think so.

Dating rumors heated up days ago when Mendoza, who has a partnership with Epic Games, and Liu started traded social media jabs about Fortnite. Liu is publicly advocating to get her own Fortnite skin, which seemingly opened the door for the public back and forth.
The 22-year-old Mendoza posted a photo of himself biting a Fortnite-style crown with the caption “Alysa Liu am I doing it right?,” to which she responded “Nah coming for the ice king? I eat these crowns for breakfast” with a photo of herself eating a bowl of cereal.

Several fans flooded the comment section applauding Mendoza for shooting his shot with the 20-year-old Olympian as many fans are convinced the two were flirting with one another.
Those suspicions only grew after the latest back and forth between Liu and Mendoza on Instagram.
“It’s all about the Foundation. No problem taking all those crowns @alysaxliu” Mendoza posted along with a selfie, prompting Liu to respond with a selfie holding a giant key with the caption: “That’s cold @fernandomendoza. You’re so going down!!”
Mendoza is expected to be drafted No. 1 overall in April’s draft to the Las Vegas Raiders. Conversely, Liu didn’t participate in the figure skating World Championships after taking home gold in Milan.
