The 2026 WNBA Draft is already the best night of draftees’ basketball lives.

Imagine a personalized message from Anne Hathaway as the cherry on top.

Before the draft officially got underway, ESPN aired a video from the Oscar-winning actress.

“On behalf of the entire cast of ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2,’ we’d like to say congratulations on all you have accomplished,” Hathaway said. “We will continue to watch you shine from the sidelines as you enter the next phase of your careers.”

Hathaway continued, “And we’re loving the fabulous fashion looks you are serving. So, keep going, keep inspiring, both on and off the court, and as Miranda Priestly would say, ‘That’s all.'”

The ESPN broadcast showed the reactions of UCLA stars and reigning national champions Lauren Betts and Kiki Rice to the video, as Betts said, “Aw.”

Once the draft began, the Dallas Wings selected UConn star guard Azzi Fudd at No. 1 overall. Minnesota used the No. 2 overall pick on Olivia Miles, followed by Seattle taking Spanish center Awa Fam Thiam at No. 3.

Then, UCLA became just the second university to have three players drafted in succession in WNBA draft history. The Washington Mystics took Betts at No. 4, the Chicago Sky took Gabriela Jaquez at No. 5, and the expansion Toronto Tempo took Rice at No. 6.

As for Hathaway, her message is part of her ongoing press tour to promote “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” in theaters on May 1. The sequel comes almost exactly 20 years after the original movie became a global phenomenon. Hathaway will reprise her role as Andrea Sachs. Meryl Streep will also reprise her iconic role as Miranda Priestly.
