A spokesperson for Ant Anstead has clarified the recent speculation that he and his girlfriend, Renée Zellweger, are living separately.
“Sadly, the recent reports are disrespectful and misleading,” Anstead’s rep told People in a statement on Thursday, May 29, referring to the claims that the British TV host, 46, had been residing with a woman named Julia French while Zellweger, 56, was out of town.
The rep further noted that Anstead had “stayed just a handful of days in Julia French’s separate, and detached, guest house” in California.
“They have been long-time friends with similarly aged children within a circle of local Laguna Beach friends,” the statement added, noting that Anstead and Zellweger “remain in a cherished relationship” despite working across countries. (Zellweger is currently filming Only Murders in the Building in New York City, while Anstead is working in the U.K.)
Anstead and the Oscar winner have not further addressed the rumors, with his rep asking for privacy on behalf of the couple.
Zellweger started dating Anstead in 2021 after meeting him on the set of Discovery+’s Celebrity IOU: Joyride.
“Renée gets along really well with Ant’s children and they spend a lot of quality time together,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in July 2023. “Despite being in the public eye, Renée and Ant love just hanging out at home with the kids, watching movies and making dinner together. They enjoy a very low-key lifestyle.”
Anstead shares daughter Amelie, 21, and son Archie, 18, with first wife Louise Storey, as well as son Hudson, 5, with second wife Christina Haack. The Christina on the Coast star, 41, has even met Zellweger, calling her “great” in a recent Us cover story.
“It’s not like Heather [Rae El Moussa] and I, where we spend a lot of time together,” Haack told Us in January, referring to her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa’s spouse. “It’s mostly just on the soccer field or at drop-off, but she’s super nice. She loves Hudson, and Hudson loves her. And she and Ant are happy.”
Haack, who shares two older children with 43-year-old Tarek, and Anstead faced a messy custody battle over son Hudson following their 2021 divorce. After reaching a settlement to share custody, Haack and Anstead have remained committed to coparenting.
“Rain is a normal footy day growing up in the UK! Rain never stopped play and Parents did what they could to stay dry,” Anstead wrote via Instagram last month, sharing a photo of him and Haack sharing a makeshift umbrella on the sidelines. “Hudzo crushed it in the match! Go the NINJAS!!!!”
