Arnold Schwarzenegger and his girlfriend, Heather Milligan, have been together for more than a decade.
Schwarzenegger was originally married to Maria Shriver from 1986 to 2020, though they separated in 2011. He met Milligan in 2012 when a doctor recommended her to Schwarzenegger as he was recovering from shoulder surgery. Milligan is a former competitive gymnast, physical therapist and founder of Elite OrthoSport, an orthopedic and sports physical therapy company.
As the Terminator actor gushed to People in 2023, the pair have “so many things in common.”
“I think the world of her,” he said. “I love that she’s into working. She’s clearly independent. She just is driven as hell.”
Their relationship has taken them on dates around the world, from red carpets in L.A. to parties in Schwarzenegger’s home country of Austria and beyond. They’ve also been spotted out with Schwarzenegger and Shriver’s kids — daughter Katherine and Christina, and sons Patrick and Christopher.

2012
Schwarzenegger and Milligan met in 2012 when the actor consulted her after undergoing shoulder surgery while preparing for the 2013 film Escape Plan.
“I said, ‘I got to go do this movie, and I bring a lot of punches and I have fights with [Sylvester Stallone] and I want to have my act together,’” he told People.
“And so he says, ‘There’s only one (person), it’s Heather — any athlete, I always send them to her, because she’s the only one that really knows what they’re talking about,’” he continued. “So I went to her, and then after my therapy was finished, after I was finished with the movie, I called her back and took her out for lunch to say thank you. And then one thing led to the next.”
2014
After rumors swirled of their romance when they were spotted out and about together on multiple occasions, the two attended the Environmental Media Awards together in Burbank, marking their first official public appearance as a couple.
2016
Schwarzenegger and Milligan donned traditional Austrian looks as the couple returned to the former California Governor’s home country for a White Sausage Party at the Hotel Stanglwirt in Kitzbühel.
2018
The couple was seen together front and center at Staples Center (now Crypto.com Arena) for a Los Angeles Lakers game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
2020
Schwarzenegger and Milligan spent Father’s Day 2020 together, riding their bikes around Los Angeles.
2024
Schwarzenegger appeared on Jason and Travis Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast where he discussed his girlfriend, who happens to be a sports fanatic.
“Ten years ago, I fell in love with Heather, my girlfriend, who is a physical therapist, who treats a lot of football players and boxers and UFC fighters and basketball players,” he told the brothers. “And she’s really a fanatic about sports, especially about football.”
2025
The two walked the red carpet together at the premiere of Netflix’ FUBAR season 2.
