Becky G and fiancé Sebastian Lletget have worked to overcome relationship hurdles after he admitted to cheating.
“I have butterflies,” Becky, 29, said on the Wednesday, April 1, episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, emphatically confirming that she and Lletget, 33, are still together. “I think removing myself from the relationship [at first] in a way that was about not just self-preservation.”
She continued, “I was distraught and broken in a lot of ways, but I think it was removing myself from the context of anyone I had to be something too.”
Lletget proposed to Becky in December 2022 after six years of dating. Nearly three months after the pop star said yes, Lletget issued a public apology for being unfaithful.
“Over the last few weeks, during a moment I regret deeply, a 10-minute lapse in judgment resulted in an extortion plot,” Lletget wrote in a March 2023 Instagram statement, shortly after a fan claimed to have proof that he had cheated on his fiancée one year earlier. “Since this person did not get what they wanted it has now become a public social media spectacle filled with more lies than any truth and false posts aimed at the love of my life, the one person who I should never take for granted or put at risk.”
The soccer star further revealed his plans to complete a wellness program to help “earn back” the faith Becky had in him.
“To Becky, you have been the light in my life, my strength, who has always shown me unconditional love,” Lletget concluded in his statement. “Instead of honoring that love every day, I have done the opposite, hurting you, and disrespecting the one person I love more than anything. I am so sorry and know I have to do whatever it takes to earn back the trust and love you deserve.”
While Becky never publicly addressed Lletget’s infidelity at the time, Us Weekly confirmed in December 2023 that they reconciled.
“They were in a really bad place, and she ghosted him for a couple of days, but that’s it,” a source exclusively told Us. “[Becky has] been in Dallas with him whenever she had a break from tour, and they’re fully back together.”
While reflecting on the pair’s struggles on “Call Her Daddy,” Becky admitted that she briefly called off their engagement.
“I took my ring off, I called off my engagement,” she said. “There are things here that took place behind closed doors privately between me and this person who I love and care for deeply, who I’ve been betrayed by. … But the thing about betrayal is it doesn’t just make you not trust the other person, you don’t trust yourself anymore.”
Eventually, Becky looked inward about her hopes for the future and whether Lletget could be a part of it.
“[I really took] time to evaluate it, feel it, understand it and then come to a place where then my needs [and] my wants are a lot more clear,” she told podcast host Alex Cooper. “Then getting to ‘conscious uncoupling,’ and being like, ‘This is the new baseline. Is there still alignment in where we see ourselves?’ That was really empowering, not just for me, but for the both of us.”
According to Becky, she and Lletget have both worked diligently to rebuild trust in one another over time.
“I remember being like, ‘OK, I can’t trust my gut because my gut has led me into some funny places,’” she recalled. “I think really being honest with yourself, like, ‘What part is coming up?’ I did individual therapy and family therapy and couples therapy. … [Grace] was something I needed to take my time with, and so, it was just me. I was really learning to give myself the space and empowering myself with the experiences with professional intervention, especially to be able to to feel good about this decision.”
