Boise State entered the 2025 season trying to sustain the momentum of a historic 2024 campaign led by Ashton Jeanty, who powered the program to a College Football Playoff berth and Mountain West title.
But after losing their Heisman finalist and offensive centerpiece, the Broncos took a clear step back, still competitive, but without the same explosive edge, finishing 9–5 and falling 38–10 to Washington in the LA Bowl.
The offense shifted to a committee approach, and while Boise State remained in the conference title mix, the season ultimately felt like a regression from the dominance and national relevance of Jeanty’s record-setting 2024 run.
Now, Boise State will be honoring Jeanty alongside another former program legend.
On Wednesday, April 29, the program revealed that the 2-yard line and 11-yard line on the iconic blue turf will be permanently marked to honor Jeanty (No. 2) and Kellen Moore (No. 11).

Across three seasons at Boise State (2022–2024), Jeanty piled up 4,769 rushing yards and 56 total touchdowns, becoming the program’s all-time leader in rushing yards while finishing tied for third in rushing scores.
His 2024 season, however, stands among the greatest in college football history.
In 14 games, Jeanty erupted for 2,601 rushing yards (second-most in FBS history) and 29 touchdowns on just 374 carries, averaging 7.0 yards per attempt.
He topped 100 rushing yards in all 14 games (an FBS record) while finishing as the Heisman Trophy runner-up and taking home both the Maxwell and Doak Walker Awards.
That dominance translated seamlessly to the NFL. Selected No. 6 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft by the Las Vegas Raiders, Jeanty stepped in as an immediate impact starter, totaling 975 rushing yards and five touchdowns as a rookie, while adding 346 receiving yards and five more scores through the air.

Before Jeanty, however, there was Kellen Moore, the architect of Boise State’s rise to national prominence.
From 2008–2011, Moore delivered one of the most efficient quarterback careers in college football history, throwing for 14,667 yards and 142 touchdowns, both of which still rank first in program history.
He also finished with a 50–3 career record (the winningest quarterback in FBS history), earned three conference Offensive Player of the Year honors, and was a multiple-time Heisman finalist, becoming just the 15th player ever to finish in the top 10 of voting three times.
Moore didn’t just win, he turned Boise State into a giant killer. His teams consistently punched above their weight, knocking off power programs and finishing near the top of the polls.
His NFL playing career was modest, but his football IQ translated quickly into coaching. By 2025, Moore had climbed the ranks to become the head coach of the New Orleans Saints, fresh off coordinating a Super Bowl-winning offense in Philadelphia.
The blue turf in Boise remains one of college football’s most iconic sights.
Now, with the program navigating a post-Jeanty era and searching for its next peak, this move reconnects the present to the two eras that defined Boise State football.
