The Denver Broncos made major noise during the offseason with one of the biggest trades in the league: snagging star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins.
It’s almost hard to express just how huge a move this will be for the Broncos’ offense, because it’s a total game-changer. The Broncos could be unstoppable with such a talented and experienced receiver in their lineup.
The official start to the NFL season is under four months away, and in a way-too-early NFL Power Rankings feature released by ESPN in May, the Broncos are at No. 3 in the rankings ahead of the 2026-27 season. A lot of the high ranking is because of Waddle.

“In an offseason that saw the Broncos re-sign 17 of their 21 unrestricted, restricted and exclusive rights free agents, the big swing for wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (three draft picks in all) was their desired move after a quarter of their drives ended in three-and-outs last season,” Jeff Legwold states in the piece.
He continued: “The hope is Waddle also unlocks the deep part of the field for quarterback Bo Nix, who had a 38.7% completion rate on attempts of 20 or more yards last season. Waddle’s yards per pass route (2.34) was 11th best in 2025 and well ahead of the highest-ranked Broncos player — Courtland Sutton at 1.75.”
