The fans want to watch everything that is going on in Augusta on the main CBS broadcast, but they missed some of the most crucial shots of the day because of ads, and the broadcast is focusing on players who aren’t in crucial situations.
In a day and age where everyone can know what’s going on in the Korean baseball league in a split second with a tap of their finger, the Masters has evolved behind the scenes with its app but has stagnated with its official broadcast on linear television.
In the most maddening mistake of the day, Rory McIlroy attempted a shot on the 18th hole that could either win him the tournament or lose him it, and the camera somehow made the ball vanish like a magic trick.
The cameras panned around the green for two minutes straight, people online losing their minds about where the ball went, before it was eventually shown to have landed in a sand bunker.
What should have been a day of celebration for golf with one of the most exciting climaxes in the tournament’s history, there’s frustration, as the main broadcast goes to a commercial about a vehicle and some fast food while Scottie Scheffler was trying to climb from the depths of the standings to challenge for a third Masters crown.
Even in what was supposed to be Rory McIlroy’s crowning moment, they somehow misfired.
