Los Angeles Chargers star quarterback Justin Herbert posts online as often as he misses games due to injury, which is to say, he almost never posts online. And when he does, it’s about the Chargers or his latest sponsorship deal.

That’s why Herbert’s Instagram Story was so fascinating on Thursday night.

Rumors first began circulating that Herbert, 27, might be dating 27-year-old pop star Madison Beer last August. Herbert was spotted on the set of one of Beer’s shoots. Before the Chargers’ Week 5 game against Washington, Herbert kissed Beer on the sideline. If that didn’t confirm they were dating, sitting courtside together at the Los Angeles Lakers game on Oct. 24 definitely did. Still, neither Beer nor Herbert had ever publicly discussed their relationship.

Herbert changed that when posted several photos to his Instagram Story in celebration of Beer’s birthday.

“Happy birthday to my favorite person of all time,” Herbert wrote atop a black-and-white photo of Beer with him pre-game. “I love you so much. You’ve changed my life forever.” Next, Herbert posted a photo of he and Beer smiling at each other and wrote, “I am the luckiest guy alive…” He rounded out his Story dump with a photo of Beer at a goat farm and wrote over it, “My goats.”

Overall, it’s a pretty great time to be Justin Herbert, whom the Chargers drafted at No. 6 overall in 2020.

While his personal life seems blissful, his football life is also pointed in an upward trajectory for the 2026 NFL season. The Chargers hired former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel as their new offensive coordinator in late January, and the team signed center Tyler Biadasz yesterday.

Herbert’s porous offensive line led to him getting sacked a career-most 54 times. According to NFL senior researcher Anthony Holzman-Escareno, Herbert had been pressure at a rate of 43.9% entering Week 16, which was the second-highest among 184 qualifying quarterbacks in the Next Gen Stats era. The 11-6 Chargers were ousted in the AFC Wild Card round with a brutal 16-3 loss in New England, where Herbert was sacked six more times.

A big offseason by Los Angeles should help Herbert put 2025 behind him and, the Chargers hope, win the first playoff game of his six-year career.
