There are many questions facing the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason.

After missing the postseason for the first time after a decade following three-straight trips to the Super Bowl, the kingdom has fractured.

Patrick Mahomes is out for the year and maybe beyond with a torn ACL. The team is rumored to announce its move from Missouri to Kansas in the coming days. Travis Kelce is embroiled in retirement talk, as he wants to finish the season before considering his future in football.

Luckily, though, even amid all the debris falling on the seemingly crumbling dynasty, it appears their leader will be there to either reload or rebuild come 2026.

Per NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo, Andy Reid is expected to return to the Chiefs and not explore retirement this offseason.

Reid, who joined Kansas City in 2013 after a long tenure in Philadelphia, has become the greatest head coach in the franchise’s history over the past decade-plus in charge. After making only one Super Bowl appearance and losing it with the Eagles, he has won five AFC titles and three Super Bowl crowns with the Chiefs.

Moving forward, it’s going to be a pivotal offseason for Reid and the Chiefs, as the futures of most of their core remain unknown. While they hope Mahomes can return for the start of the regular season, the team will need to secure talent through the draft and free agency to hopefully reshape Kansas City’s future.

Reid and the general manager, Brett Veach, will need to navigate a difficult financial situation, as they currently sit $35 million over the salary cap heading into the offseason, with Mahomes expected to make over $78 million. If he can restructure his deal, it could give enough breathing room for the Chiefs to make some moves on the market.
