Week 5 of the 2024 NFL season concludes with a Monday night showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints.
The favored Chiefs will look to move to 5-0 on the season, while the Saints look to get back on track after losing their last two games to fall to 2-2 on the year.
With a win, the Chiefs would join the Minnesota Vikings as the lone undefeated teams in the NFL. Will they get it done on Monday night in front of the home fans?
The staff at Newsweek Sports has their predictions.
Noah Camras: The Saints have come back down to earth after a hot start to the year. The Chiefs, on the other hand, just keep on winning. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will move to 5-0 on Monday night thanks to a big game from Mahomes, another breakout by Travis Kelce, and a stellar performance by the Kansas City defense.
Prediction: Chiefs 27, Saints, 17
Eva Geitheim: You can’t pick against Patrick Mahomes until proven otherwise, though the Saints could certainly steal a win here. Steve Spagnuolo should have a good game plan for this revived Saints offense.
Prediction: Chiefs 24, Saints 17.
Ricardo Sandoval: The Chiefs will be without their top pass catcher Rashee Rice after he suffered a significant knee injury last week that landed him on the injured reserve. The Chiefs offense has not been as explosive as many predicted it would be even with Rice. Combine that with that fact that the Saints defense ranks seventh in opponent points per game and the Chiefs could be in trouble. On top of that, the Saints have the offense to score with the best of them ranked first in points per game.
Prediction: Saints 24, Chiefs 20
Matt Levine: Kansas City could lose this game due to all the injuries that they’ve suffered, but the Chiefs typically find a way to win games. New Orleans is a good team that can push them but until I see the Chiefs lose, I’m rolling with them.
Prediction: Chiefs 27, Saints 17
James Brizuela: The Chiefs have beat each of their opponents by only one score so far, and now they play against a tough Saints defense. Though New Orleans is a solid team, they are not at home this time around, so expect the Chiefs to once again come away with a close victory.
Prediction: Chiefs 28, Saints 24
