The rivalry between “The OTC” Roman Reigns and “The Best in the World” CM Punk has reached a boiling point, with their history stretching back to “WrestleMania 41.” The animosity began when Punk ensured Paul Heyman left Reigns’ side for the Premium Live Event, setting off a chain reaction of betrayal.
While Heyman ultimately betrayed both Reigns and Punk to align with Seth Rollins and The Vision, Reigns seems to believe that the root of all evil was Punk rather than Rollins. This resentment culminated on the “Raw” following the “Royal Rumble,” where the “Royal Rumble” winner officially made his decision.
The WrestleMania Decision
On Monday’s episode of “Raw,” Roman Reigns exercised his right as the Rumble winner to choose his opponent for “WrestleMania 42.” He claimed that he is picking CM Punk not just for the championship, but specifically because he hates him.
Reigns made it clear that this match is personal, looking to settle a score that has been festering for a year. However, his opponent views the dynamic through a slightly different lens.

A “Measuring Contest”
CM Punk addressed Reigns’ comments during an appearance on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams. When asked why Reigns harbors such intense hatred for him, the “Second City Saint” questioned the validity of that emotion, suggesting it might be competitive ego rather than pure malice.
“You think he really hates me? Hate and love. It’s a fine line,” Punk replied. “The lore is we’re two top guys in the industry. So it’s going to be a measuring contest. I’m being very cautious about my words. D*ck measuring contest. I can say that.”
