ESPN premiered “The Pick Is In” on Sunday evening.
The NFL Films and Skydance Sports-produced documentary captured the inner workings of the 2026 NFL Draft, which took place from April 23 to April 25 in Pittsburgh.
One of the emerging storylines from the draft was the Philadelphia Eagles trading up to No. 20 overall to draft former USC wide receiver Makai Lemon before the Pittsburgh Steelers could at No. 21 overall.
We’ve already seen the video of Lemon talking on the phone with Steelers general manager Omar Khan, who was in the process of welcoming Lemon to the Steelers when a confused Lemon asked, “Hey, why is Philly calling me?”
“The Pick Is In” captured another angle from inside the Dallas Cowboys’ war room.
Adam Schefter, ESPN’s preeminent NFL reporter, posted the clip to X on Sunday.
It shows Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and Cowboys co-owner Stephen Jones talking through who would be most likely to trade for their 20th overall pick. Dallas had already traded up from No. 12 to No. 11 to draft former Ohio State safety Caleb Downs. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer encourages Stephen Jones to call Howie Roseman, the Eagles’ GM.
Then, Roseman calls Jones, and they quickly negotiate. Roseman makes an offer, to which Jones says, “We’re already giving up picks for this year. We’re out of ’em.” Jones offers the 20th overall pick and a 2027 seventh-round pick, and Roseman was sold: “OK, we got a deal.”
The Cowboys received the Eagles’ Nos. 23, 114, and 137 overall picks in the 2026 NFL draft in exchange.
With those picks, the Cowboys selected former UCF edge rusher Malachi Lawrence (No. 23), former Florida cornerback Devin Moore (No. 114), and former Alabama edge rusher LT Overton (No. 137).
