An enraged dad allegedly murdered an innocent mom with a machete — mistakenly thinking it was his daughter’s ex-boyfriend, according to Ohio cops.
Kenneth Brabant, 59, allegedly went outside his home in Camden, in southwest Ohio, late Sunday as his scared daughter called cops to report that her ex was driving up and down their road on a motorbike trying to get her to come out, Fox 19 reported.
Just five minutes later, an unrelated motorcyclist — not the ex — called 911 to say his passenger, Leigha Huff, 41, had been cut by a machete. He rushed her to a friend’s house, where the mom — who had battled cancer — died before help could arrive.
Brabant is accused of throwing the machete, thinking his daughter’s ex was on the motorbike, officials said.
“It just happened to be a random motorcycle coming down the road,” Sheriff Mike Simpson said.
Barbant, 59, was arrested on Monday. He is charged with murder, tampering with evidence, attempted murder and assault. He is being held in the Preble County Jail on a $1 million bond, jail records show.
“All I can say is I’m sorry,” a visibly emotional Brabant said in his initial court appearance Wednesday.
Huff had been battling cancer for years and was an “awesome mother” to her son, according to a longtime friend, Jeremy Tucker.
“She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Tucker told WLWT.
